Travis Motley Joins Activ8 Driver Development Program
West Coast Racer Looks to Advance Career
7.13.10

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 13, 2010) - Nineteen-year-old Travis Motley has signed with Activ8 Communications' Driver Development Program, setting his sights on continued success running late model stock cars.

The Activ8 Driver Development Program, an extension of Activ8 Communications, provides young drivers with the opportunity to receive on and off the track benefits - valuable seat time, expert coaching, public relations assistance and brand building.

Although he may have had a later start than most, Motley has wasted no time climbing to the top of the racing ranks. At 13, he strapped into his first kart, which he competed in for the next three years. From 2004 to 2006, Motley racked up numerous wins and countless podium finishes while also taking second-place overall at the IKF 2-Cycle Sprint Grand Nationals on two different occasions.

In 2007, Motley made the transition from karts to full-body stock cars when he began racing in the Auto Club Late Model division at Toyota Speedway (Calif.). Last season Motley finished fifth in the overall point standings.

Today, not only does he continue to race in the Auto Club Late Model division, Motley also finds time to attend college at Whitworth University (Wash.) where he studies engineering and physics.

In pursuing his dreams of becoming a professional racecar driver, Motley is looking forward to joining Activ8 Driver Development.

"I think becoming a part of the Activ8 Driver Development Program is great way to jump-start my career," said Motley. "Activ8 is an extremely professional organization with a lot of connections, and I know they can help me out in many ways - especially with things that I wouldn't be able to do on my own."

Mike Calinoff, founder of the Activ8 Driver Development Program and championship spotter for NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth, is also excited to be teaming up with the West Coast racer.

"Travis is already such an accomplished racecar driver, I look forward to seeing where we can take him," said Calinoff. "We're going to work really hard and do whatever it takes to get him to the next level."

While Motley will continue to race at Irwindale, he will also travel to the East Coast for select late model races with the hopes of competing in the K&N Pro Series East, or West full-time next season.
